UMUT: Hope for Spring

May 2023

The fundraising concert for earthquake relief in Türkiye was conceived and produced by Shelley Ng, presented by the Hong Kong New Music Ensemble and the Consulate General of Türkiye in Hong Kong. Through her fundraising concert at Hong Kong City Hall and due to the kind support of other musicians and the audience she was able to raise $178,336.73 to support those devastated by the disaster. The amount was forwarded by the Consulate General to AFAD (Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency) in Türkiye for relief efforts. The concert presented a variety of Turkish music, carefully curated around the theme of the devastation of earthquake and the hope humanity brings.

Autistic Concert

Project Name

Shelley has two cousins with autism. Over time Shelley became acutely aware of the demanding lives of those who care for children like them. The seeds of the autism awareness concert idea were planted. The concert was designed to include scripts written based on people who were in the autistic spectrum, and music was carefully chosen from composers who showed autistic traits. The unique feature of this charity concert is that it specifically aims to raise awareness of the plight of families and carers and to support them by saying ‘we understand’.
